The RESI WildCatteHCU solution is based on new processes and catalysts designed to perform in field upgraders located directly at the wellhead of extra heavy crude oil production sites. Refinery Science’s technology provides a major market breakthrough by making production and delivery of North American heavy crudes economically competitive with Eastern Hemisphere crudes.

Benefits
RESI's WildCatterHCU is designed to be a modular, mass produced, field upgrader. Low quality extra heavy crude oil (API 9-12 - Sulfur ~5%) is converted in the WildCatterHCU into high quality medium crude oil (API 30+ - Sulfur ~2%).
Depending on the quality of the feedstock, Pilot Plant data combined with projections of scaled up performance indicate that for every 1000 bbls of extra heavy crude oil processed, the WildCatterHCU produces 1000+ bbls of medium crude. It also produces enough high quality steam to mobilize over 1000 bbls of extra heavy crude from a typical SAGD field.
With the WildCatterHCU, extra heavy crude - typically found in the Western Hemisphere, can be upgraded and delivered to refineries at prices that compete favorably with Eastern Hemisphere crude.
